Way to go Logan!!

The past few weeks Logan's hard work has paid off once again and gives us lots to make us proud. At school, he was recognized for his entry in the PTSA reflections contest. He created a clever and creative art piece to go with this years theme, Diversity. (I'll post it when he gets it back...I didn't get a pic before) He was especially thrilled over the candy bar that was bigger than his head! And at the karate studio, Logan earned his Blue Belt...look out, he can now do some serious damage

We celebrated with his usual request of sushi and I made a special dessert, blue belt pudding...mmmm

The Jr. Blue Belt was at it again..2nd place sparing! Scary, I know!

Karate with a side of Eggs

Each Spring, Logan's karate studio hosts a morning of Karate in the Park followed with an Egg Hunt. While Logan worked out, Caden and Izzy kept busy playing and exploring. Then it was time for the hunt! This is what Logan looked like most of the time...just a blur! Caden was a bit more subdue while thrilled to find CANDY in each egg!

Float like a butterfly....Sting like a bee

Logan started BOXING....I still have to pause and gulp before I say that. It's a requirement for his karate belt. I was reassured over and over again that they NEVER fight against each other...just practice on the bags etc.

Logan loved his first lesson (is it called a lesson in boxing???) However, I think he was even more excited about his green handwraps and new boxing gloves.

Puurrrrrrrple

It's belt test time again, this time Logan was working towards a full purple. Full belts are always more difficult than jr belts because they are comprehensive, you are tested on EVERYTHING you have learned in your study of karate. It also means we are at the studio A LOT! The week prior to testing, the kids are encouraged to go to EVERY class for review. That means everyday, for a week, EVERYDAY! do you get my point! And the test itself is over 2 hours...2 hours of forms, self defense techniques, sparing and endurance. So this is a BIG accomplishment! At the end of testing, they invite parents in for the belt ceremony. It's a cool thing. Mr. B talks about the meaning of the belts and emphasizes the hard work put in to get to this point.

After they place their old belt behind them (it's in the past), they take their new belt and recognize the amount of learning that took place to get to here and how much more is needed to continue.

Then they place it on their waist to signify their strength and hard work.

And then over their heart to represent their dedication and commitment.

A little time to meditate, reflect and focus.

Hooray! Congratulations Logan, we are very proud of you.
