Such a cute show!!!

Rocks, Minerals and Fossils, Oh My!!

Nestled in the heart of Escondido is the home of an incredible man who LOVES what he does...sharing his passion for paleontology with THOUSANDS of kids. Mr. Roynon built an amazing museum full of the most wonderful Smithsonian quality specimens that he allows the kids to touch, feel and experience. This is the ultimate Hands On learning experience! What an incredible field trip! Logan enjoyed it too ☺

Beware!

The Jr. Blue Belt was at it again..2nd place sparing! Scary, I know!

Our 79 cent adventure

Someone has a birthday coming up...and we aren't planning a big party...which means I probably put a little too much effort and energy into Caden's Birthday Snack for preschool. I'll share more on that later but for this day we were on a mission to find a rocket ship shaped cookie cutter. I found a few online but the shipping was ridiculous so I called around town and found a cooking store in PB that had them...FIELD TRIP!!
First stop...starbucks and a pink frosted doughnut
Since we were in Pacific Beach, we had to stroll the boardwalk
And we finished our outing with a sushi lunch, a Caden favorite
So, in the end, it may have been cheaper to just order the darn cookie cutter online but it definitely would not have been as much fun!!

Our Jurassic House Guest

This is quickly becoming Caden's favorite story...the day the lizard got into the house. He tells everyone who will listen. Cade spotted the lizard against the patio door and enthusiastically pointed it out to me. I responded with a shriek which then scared Caden...it was something out of a cheesy Shelley Long comedy. By the time I finally settled Caden down, the lizard ran to the basket of stuffed animals in the family room.
Luckily, he was petrified too, so I just had to take the basket outside and all was back to normal.
And Caden has a great story to tell over and over and over again.

FUNtastic Twos

Caden had his first taste of school this year with a program for 2 year olds. It's been a wonderful time there, twice a week for an hour to hour and a half. Caden's favorite things to do at school are play in the kitchen, ride the tricycle around the playground and eat snack.
"Bye Mom!"

The tree house started to spin. It spun faster and faster

The Magic Tree House: On Stage...oh what a joyous day!!! Over a year ago, when Logan was devouring the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborne, he noticed an ad at the end of the book that mentioned there would be a MTH MUSICAL...can you imagine?!? I obediently typed in the given website to discover that it would be touring Spring/Summer 2011...back in 2009, that seemed like forever away...fast forward to this past January...I received an email from "Magic Tree House, The Musical" (yes, I subscribed to their newsletter. Anything for a boys love of reading, right?) It says that the plans for the musical production have been scaled back but there will be a bus tour in a town near you soon...hum...not that encouraging...fast forward again, this time to a facebook post (yes, you can be Magic Tree House's friend on facebook too!) The Magic Tree House would be visiting the La Jolla Library at the end of April, the same weekend as a few other events, but this would take priority!
So here was the event! Waiting anxiously in the front row with the Krenz boys!!
Jack and Annie in the flesh!!
singing and dancing...
after the show, each kid had a book stamped by the Tree House Duo.
and then it was still, absolutely still...

Another glimpse into my world...

It's getting close to naptime..
ME: How about you pick out a book?
Caden: (just keeps playing)
ME: (after a LONG time) How about I pick out a book then you pick out one?
Caden: How 'bout I pick out one then I pick out one... (he goes and gets 2 books)
ME: DEAL!

Hippity Hop

Easter Morning started BRIGHT and EARLY...Logan was up at 6...eager to see what the Easter Bunny brought and excited to hunt for those eggs that the Bunny hides in the backyard.
Later, we gathered at the Hacienda Van Pelt for more bunny fun!
