You know what they say about teacher's kids...

They are darn cute!

Desert Cousins at the Coast

All of my Imperial Valley cousins came up to escape the heat and soak up some surf and sand. It was great to catch up with them and the next generation had so much fun together.

Lake Fun

We spent one weekend up at Nannie & Papa's cabin at Lake Gregory. We had a wonderful time playing at the lake. The weather was perfect so we could enjoy all the water fun. Shawn and Logan kayaked all around the lake.
Logan, Shawn and I had fun on the water slides. Caden was a bit bummed since he isn't tall enough to slide. In fact, a few days later he was still reminiscing about why he couldn't go on the waterslides. Logan explained that he isn't tall enough and I add,"Yep, you need to grow another foot". Caden thought about that for a sec and then said "But Logan has 2 feet just like me!" ☺
The splash pad was fun but oh that water was SO cold!!
And after a few laps around the buoys in the lake, Caden crashed lakeside. We had so much fun at the lake, we were one of the first to arrive and nearly the last to leave.
The next morning, Caden and I were up with the sun, so we enjoyed a little time with nature out on the deck. We bird watched and listened to the wind whistle through the trees, a beautiful way to start our day.

Hoopla with the Hoffy Girls

As usual, we've spent some of our fun summer days with those crazy Hoffy girls. Here are a few highlights.
(oh look, the rare pic of ME...all covered up because my skin has met it's quota of solar radiation ☺)
And look, there is Caden all covered up too...he's met his quota of wind, sand, water and all things beach-like.
Why did I bother dragging sand toys to the beach when a dead sardine provided an endless amount of entertainment?

Caden's First Swim Lessons

Miss Brooke was AWESOME
The very first swim stroke they learn is the elementary back stroke. They use Chicken Airplane Soldier to help the kids with the steps. Caden loved the idea that he was actually swimming but wasn't all that comfortable on his back. And the idea of having his head AND his feet in the water at the same time was a difficult concept. But it is entertaining to watch! And for the grand finale of swim lessons, Caden JUMPED off the diving board...FLOP!

Happy Dancer

This is pretty much Caden's summer uniform...well I guess he would wear just this year round if temperature wasn't an issue. I had some rockin music playing while we were cleaning and he "just had to dance". More like "just had to stop cleaning" but oh SO STINKIN' CUTE!!

They grow up so fast
