Logan never stops amazing me

Today at breakfast, Buddy's dog tag kept clinking against his water bowl. Remember that Buddy is nearly blind and right now he seriously needs a hair cut, so his vision is extremely limited. Logan announces that Buddy is using his echolocation to get a drink of water.

And, last week, we were eating spiral shaped mac-n-cheese when he announced his dinner looked like DNA.

HOW DOES HE KNOW THIS STUFF!!!

I was inspired!

You only turn 1 once and since we were planning a smaller party (Logan's first had over 70 party guests. CRAZY! What were we thinking!) for Caden, I figured I could be a little more crafty. Plus, blogs we're not really around 5 years ago to steal such great ideas, I mean inspire me. His invitations were just like the ones I made for Logan's first bday, except using a beach ball instead of balloons. This was the cake I made for my baby boy, using a soccer ball cake mold. The sheet cake was ala Costco. (love their icing!)

I happened across these blogs just before Caden's birthday and I was inspired to get to work and create some decorations of my own...it doesn't help that I always manage to pic a party theme that doesn't exist at Party City. This one was Beach Balls since he is obsessed with them!

I can't compare to these amazing creative women, but I appreciate their talents and I'm thrilled they share!

I've posted some of the pic from Caden's party along with a link to their inspiration source, unfortunately, I didn't take pics of the decorations until after we started cleaning up so you get to see the aftermath of the party...oh well.

Unfortunately, I didn't get any pics of the theme related foods...meatballs, cheese balls, melon

balls etc. or the yard decorations but I did get a shot of the birthday boy and his beach ball pinata!

Caden's First Year in Review

Caden Baby at One

Walking - a few steps at a time before a powerful diaper drop followed by the worlds fastest super crawl.

Talking - says DaDa, tickle-tickle, cup, duck, wha dat (what's that), thank you, ah-oh proceeded by something being tossed to the floor.

Eating - LOVES corn on the cob, green beans, chicken apple sausage, apple sauce, grapes, melon, milk

Playing - Soccer Balls, Beach Balls, footballs, "reading" books, destroying megablocks, pushing scooter/stroller/car across the yard/house,

Caden has a belly laugh that melts my heart, a smile that lights up the planet, and hugs that warm my soul. We are trying to appreciate every stage because we know it will pass by in a blink.

What will his next year bring?

The big boys went to Disneyland last weekend. I love this picture! How is it that the seat in front of Shawn is empty and the seat in front of Logan has the tallest sleeping man in the world?

Teacher Student Switch Day

Friday was teacher/student switch day at school. Logan wanted to dress like Mr. Embry, his principal. So out came his "wedding clothes". By the way, the tie has appeared at school once before, for WACKY DAY. The best part of this whole dress-up thing is seeing how much Logan's grown. Can you see in the pic? His pants are about 2 inches too short. Its been a little over a year since Melissa and Ryan's wedding, (more wedding pics) what could we expect?

After Mommy and Me yoga at the Park, Caden was pooped. I guess he's practicing his savasana.

Spring Soccer Fun

Before the last game of the Spring Season, the kids had some personal training from players on the San Diego SeaLions, the local womens pro soccer team.

Caden and Grandma watching Logan's game. After the game, we headed over to ColdStone for an ice cream celebration with Ally, Diego, Mitch and Vinny.

The world record of loose teeth...Logan has had his front tooth loose for months...now it is just hanging on but refuses to fall out. Now he has 3 front teeth!

Just add green beans

Caden's favorite food right now is green beans. He could eat his body weight if I let him.
