Our Turkey Week

We started our week off with a trip to the dentist. It was Caden's first time...unfortunately I didn't get any shots of him, between holding him down for the dentist check and chasing him around while Logan got checked out.(Logan was watching the newest Ice Age movie and couldn't be bothered with a photo)

During the week, we managed to finally fit in a few things that have been on our "to do" list. We fed carrots to the horses down the street, (Caden refused to give up his carrot to the horse and ate it himself), made a trip to OB to play in the sand and hiked across the new bridge over Lake Hodges. Even a playdate with some old friends. And lots of family time!

We celebrated Thanksgiving with a ton of family. Grandma hosted the whole gang to a delicious meal and a wonderful evening.

We even found time to decorate the house for Christmas!

And as a cherry on top to our week, Aunt Suzie and Uncle Roy came for a visit. The kitchen became a karate studio before dinner.

Now it's back to school...3 weeks 'til Christmas Break!

Caden at 18

MONTHS, that is!!

Everyday he adds a few more words to his repertoire...a few of his favorites would be Elmo, bubbles, iggles (Wiggles), doggie, apple, tar (guitar), hat, up, down, cup, hot, nigh-nigh, bye bye...he especial loves to call out all the characters on his diaper (damn you Pampers for plastering the cast of Sesame Street on his behind) and demand that Shawn play "Iggles on tar".

He is also a never ending powerhouse of adventure. He loves to play outside, riding in his car, pushing his scooter, kicking the soccerball, chasing bubbles or just running around. He thinks he is "Gogee/LoLo's" equal, completely unaware that there is a 5 and a half year difference.

Obsession is too mild of a word when it comes to Caden and music. The pauses between songs is entirely too long. He asks and signs, "More?" when a song ends and if at home, he puts his ear to the entertainment center waiting for the next note. Singing "Twinkle, Twinkle & Itsy Bitsy Spider" make him giddy and by now you all know his love for Queen's "We Will Rock You". And just recently, the piano at grandma's house is his new favorite pass time.

CHEERS is another fascination. He will cheers you with a cup klink and it goes far beyond that. If you are eating the same food, be it corn on the cob or toast, there is a request to "chee". And it doesn't stop at food either, washcloths, legos...you match with Caden, be prepared to give cheers.

As you can see, food is Caden's friend. He loves whole apples, in fact, we now have to core his apples otherwise he will eat the entire thing, seeds, core, stem and everything. Carrots, corn on the cob, green beans and peas are also preferred munchies while milk is the end all be all. As a personal touch, he often finds that food tastes better after it's run through his hair...yummy!

First Grade Hoe Down

As a culminating activity to their studies of early America, the first grade class has a Hoe Down, complete with square dancing, barn yard animals and potato sack races. YEE HAW!

A pie eating and turkey trotting contest also filled their day.

Topped of by the chicken dance led by no one else but Mr. Embry, their principal...in a cow suit.

USS Cub takes home a trophy

Last night at Logan's Pack Meeting they held the Raingutter Regatta, a cub scout tradition, so I hear. Logan's boat was very popular among the other scouts and their parents. In fact he won a

trophy for Best Cub Scout Theme. Nice work Logan!

A favorite spot

This was exactly what I needed after 3 days of house arrest. Logan had a gushy barking cough that sounded much worse then it was but his doctor recommended taking it easy for a few days to help him get over it. So that's what we did, until the end of day 3, when I couldn't stand seeing the inside of house any longer. We made it to Torrey Pines just in time to enjoy the sinking of the sun. Such a beautiful time of day at a favorite spot on Earth.
