On our way home

Mission La Purisima - soaking up a bit of history

No roadtrip is complete without a side of the road potty stop
A trip down Shawn's memory lane...a stop at Santa Anita Mall

and a cruise through the ol neighborhoods

We saw zebras!

So eccentric WR Hearst had zebras along with a bunch of other zoo animals during his residency and since that time the zebras are now grazers with the cattle and can be spotted from the highway. We've driven this road several times without a sighting but this time we got lucky!!! And oh the excitement!!!

Moonstone Beach was our next stop

Amazing tidepools, great seal watching and the most captivating sand/pebbles.

And within moments the fog set in, so we settled in to a super cozy hotel, right across the street from the beach.  We soaked in the jacuzzi, tried to enjoy the fireplace (but it was still a little too warm), snuggled in the down comforters, savored the philosophy bath products and got a bit giddy over the complimentary continental breakfast room service.  (I may have appreciated some of these a bit more than other family members) A wonderful treat after a week of roadtripping in family valued motels.

 that just kept getting better...

Don't you just want to go stand under that waterfall!!!!

Yet another gorgeous spot on Earth...

Purple Sand...we are there!

This spot was one of our new discoveries!! As soon as Logan heard there was a beach with purple sand, we couldn't pass it up.  And boy was it worth it!! We will definitely be back!!
