Our Magical Wizarding Family

Since Shawn and Logan are reading their way through the Potter book series, it was obvious what our family theme would be this year. So, here we are, in all our Hogwarts high fashion. Logan and I are sporting the colors of Griffindor , as Harry and Hermione, while Caden is sporting threads from the house of Slytherin since he is portraying Harry's nemesis Draco Malfoy. The extremely hairy (not to be confused with Harry) creature is Rubeus Hagrid, the Hogwarts Gamekeeper, a.k.a. Shawn.
"Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also." Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Spoken by Albus Dumbledore.
Another fun family theme...and next year is already on the drawing board!!!
Just in case you've forgotten years past

Bohemian Art Nuevo Garden Picnic Wedding

This past Saturday, we were honored to witness the wedding of Luke and Becky. It was a beautiful day for a beautiful event.

La Brea Tar Pits

This was an impromptu day trip we made back before school started.
On our way up, we spotted the "North Woods Inn", a favorite place of Shawn's. He remembers going there with his grandparents for special occasions like his birthday.
I instantly knew why Shawn loved this place. Its built like a log cabin with painted on rooftop snow. Inside it is decorated as if Walt Disney did it himself. So many details to look at, like a life size I Spy.
Then after the worlds largest lunch we headed back into traffic to make our way to the tar pits.
After a great afternoon of exploring the tar pits, we headed over to the LA Museum of Art. Caden isn't such a fan of fine art, but he really liked the outdoor ode to Ikea kitchen supplies.
It was a really wonderful day! We finished it up with a cruise on Melrose before we headed home.

getting caught up

My phone kept turning itself off...pretty irritating. So I stopped at the phone kiosk at Costco where we got it to ask for their advice...the very nice, very helpful salesguy told me I had 6 days left on my receipt to exchange my phone...WHAT!!! Did not know that was possible. Only problem, I'd lose my pics. So that brings me to this post...I finally uploaded these pics from my phone...here we go!
These first pics are from an amazing afternoon at the beach back in August. We met up with Aunt Miss at Torrey Pines for a picnic dinner. It was a gorgeous time of day at low tide so we had as much beach as we wanted to play play play.
Father/Son Strawberry Shake
This pics from a stop at ColdStone around Shawn's birthday. Caden discovered that he LOVES strawberry shakes.

Ghosts and Ghouls

Friday Night was the Mother/Son Dance at Lo's school. We met up with some of our friends before the dance at Islands for a rambunctious dinner with lots of burps and chanting. (in my mind, I can still hear "Mac N Cheese Mac N Cheese Mac N Cheese" over and over again when our server told us some of our orders were not ready yet) Logan picked the Harry Potter Theme (this is just a preview...more to see next week)
Here they are parading around for the costume contest...Logan won a prize!

Here are our cutie patooties...in all their costume glory.

Taking a Trip

Caden can spend an afternoon sitting in this car, happy as can be climbing in and out, opening and shutting the door. Lately, he likes to go on trips... Now Playing...Caden's Car Trip!

a GRATE day at the zoo

Aside from the turtles and tortoises, this grate was the most interesting part of Caden's day at the zoo. Logan was a fan of the skyfari, like usual.

They grow up so fast
